DAY 1: ARRIVAL ADDIS ABABA & SIGHTSEEING

Arrival Addis Ababa and meet our Ethiopia Tours representative. Then transfer to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time do some sightseeing in Addis Ababa.
Overnight in hotel.

DAY 2: ADDIS ABABA TO GONDAR TO SANKABAR

After breakfast transfer to the airport to fly to Gondar, established by king Fasiladas in 1636 AD. The town was capital of Ethiopia in the 17th century. Upon arrival at Gondar Airport, departure for Debark town (100 Kms from Gondar), where the head quarters of Semien Mountains National Park is found. Here we pay the entrance fees and a scout and a local guide will accompany us. Then we continue driving to Sankabar (31 Kms) the first campsite of the National Park. On this drive you will gain your first impression of the scale and beauty of this highland region, the extraordinary scenery, enjoying the endemic Gelada Baboons and the bone breaking giant Lammergeyer bird of prey.

DAY 3: SANKABAR CAMP TO GEECH CAMP – 5 to 6 HRS

This is the day that we arrange all the trekking staff including mules and Muleteers for packing and transport of camping gear and all foodstuff for the trek. We walk from Sankaber to Geech, which will take between 5 to 6 hours. After about 1 and half hours walk we see the Jinnbar River and falls, we will cross the river later in the day. After crossing the river, we ascend for about two hour to Geech, which is full of Giant Lobelias. The scenery is wonderful, and groups of endemic Gelada Baboons can be seen on the way.

DAY 4: GEECH – IMETEGOGO – GEECH

This day we will be walking to the best viewpoints in the National park. First we walk to Imetegogo, the view here enables one to look 360 degrees to all directions. This is one of the best view in the national park. After a short stay here continue walk to Seha, another terrific viewpoint in the National park. We will have our picnic lunch and we continue to the last viewpoint, Quedadit. After some stay we walk back to Geech campsite. The walk on this day is not hard; it takes about 4 to 5 hours. It is the day that we will be walking in the best part of the national park. If we are lucky we might have the chance to see mammals like the Simien wolf, Walia Ibex and Klipspringers.

DAY 5: TREK TO CHENEK AND OVERNIGHT

We trek to Chenek today. We will be walking through fields of giant lobelia trees. African field Rats are a common site. After picnic lunch we walk on the edge of the Elate escarpments (4000m above sea level), which is another breathtaking view in the national park. Finally we descend to Chenek. Chenek is the best place to see the endemic Walia Ibex and more Gelada Baboon. It takes 6 to 7 hours to walk today’s route.

DAY 6: AROUND CHENEK

This morning after breakfast we start the trek to the second peak in the national Park called Bwahit Ras, It takes about two-hours to walk to the top of the pass at 4200 metres, where we enjoy views to the east over Mesheha Valley and towards the Dashen mountain range. Looking back we find ourselves under the cover of the impressive rock formations of ImetGogo. From Bwahit Ras the path leads steeply down and across the Mesheha Valley.
The rest afternoon will be wandering around Chenek. This site of Chenek has good viewpoints and it is also the best spot to observe the Walia Ibex.

DAY 7: CHENEK TO GONDAR

Since our vehicle can reach the campsite of Chenek, we will drive directly from Chenek campsite via Debark to Gondar. On route we will stop at picturesque locations.
Overnight Hotel.

DAY 8: FLY TO ADDIS ABABA

After breakfast flight from Gondar to Addis Ababa then check in to your hotel or at the airport.
