DAY 1: ARRIVAL COTONOU AIRPORT
Arrive on Cotonou Airport where our representative will wait for you and take you to your accommodation for the night.
DAY 2: COTONOU – ABOME
Today you depart for your long journey north. The first leg of the journey will take you to Abomey.
First you will visit the underground city of Agongointo-Zoungoudo. It consists of a series of bunkers and other housing structures around 10 meters deep underground. The structures were built in the 16th century AD under the reign of King Dakodonou, the second King of the kingdom of Abomey.
In the afternoon you will visit the Royal Palaces of the former kingdom of Abomey. The palaces are a UNESCO world heritage site, and are unmatched on the African continent.
The night is spend in Abomey.
DAY 3: ABOMEY – NATITINGOU
After a hearty breakfast you will continue your journey north to Natitingou. You will visit Kota Falls, where you can take a refreshing dip at the bottom of the falls, while enjoying the beautiful landscape.

DAY 4: SOMBA COUNTRY
The day will start with a visit to the ethnographic museum of Natitingou to get a taste and understanding of the local cultures and tribes in this part of Benin. After your visit you will start a roundtrip through Somba country. The Somba are an African ethnic group, characterized by their body marks.
In the village of Boukombé you will visit a traditional Somba house, called Tata Somba. You will visit the small traditional village of Koussoukouangou, while enjoying the scenery underway.
The night will be spend in the village of Boukombé.
DAY 5: BOUKOMBÉ
Enjoy the village of Boukombé. You will be guided around in the village. You can go and make pottery, weave something from grass, or try your hands in forging something in the blacksmith.

DAY 6: BOUKOMBÉ AND ATAKORA MOUNTAINS
In the morning you will visit a small waterfall and learn about the colonial history of the area. After lunch you will go on a hike in the Atakora Mountains. This mountain range delivers spectacular views and it is a birders paradise.

DAY 7: BOUKOMBÉ – TANOUGOU
After breakfast you will leave Boukombé and continue in the direction of Pendjari National Park. The route will meander along the foot of the Atakora Mountains. En-route you visit a traditional tata Somba, a bit different from the previous one. You will stop for lunch at Tanougou Fall where you can take a swim at the foot of the falls if you wish to do so.
In the afternoon and evening the village will organize a traditional historical evening for you.
The night is spend in the village.
DAY 8: TANOUGOU – PENDJARI
Today you will head to the best wildlife destination of West Africa: Pendjari National Park. Since 2017 the park is managed by African Parks and anti-poaching measures have been firmly put in place. You will enjoy an almost continuous safari through the park the rest of the day.
You will camp at Baobab Island inside the park.
DAY 9: PENDJARI – DJOUGOU
In the morning you will enjoy a long safari to search for those animals that might have escaped you the day before.
After lunch you depart for Djougou, an important market city. After visiting a jewelry workshop you will visit the royal palace of Djougou where you will meet the king himself.

DAY 10: DJOUGOU – OUIDAH
You will continue your journey south to the town of Ouidah, entering a region that is the birtplace of Voodoo, which is still actively practiced. On the way you will stop at Dankoli, an important Voodo shrine. Continuing your travels you will visit the Temple of Pythons. Inside the temple there is a pit filled with dozens of snakes from a species known as the Royal python either slinking around or tangled together. It is reported that approximately sixty pythons make this temple their home.
After your visit you will be brought to your accommodation in Ouidah
DAY 11: OUIDAH
A day full of activities. Take a walk along the slave route and the door of no return to learn all about the time when slavery still existed. Visit of the forest sacred with its ancient massive trees full of hanging bats towering above a dozen or so voodoo temples with its many statues of traditional voodoo gods, and multiple sacred voodoo sites. After your visit you will depart for Cotonou where you will spend the night.
DAY 12: BEACH
Today you can take the time to relax and enjoy the beach.
DAY 13: GANVIE
For your last activity we will drive up to the village of Ganvie. Ganvie is a village on stilts in and at the banks of Lake Nokoue. The village is quite a sight to behold.
In the afternoon you will return to your hotel for the night.
DAY 14: BEACH
Another day to relax and hunt for that special souvenir you want to take home.
Night will be spend in your beach hotel.
DAY 15: DEPARTURE
On the final day you will be transferred to Cotonou Airport for your flights back home. We bid you farewell and hope you have enjoyed your tour.
